In order to get our fall campaign off to a good start, here are three critically important steps players and families need to be all over:
Registration
All players need to register for fall sports. This is different from registering for school. Registration opened on July 24th. Here is the link to the school’s registration page:
There are three steps to registration:
- There is an online form that must be completed with parent/guardian online signatures.
- An updated physical must be submitted. A physical expires one year from the date it is signed. So ideally, every player needs a physical dated November 2023 or more recently to get us through the season. If you physical will expire during the season, you must make an appointment to get a new physical on the day the current one expires. Coach Matt will receive an email from the athletics office with instructions to shut a player down when his physical expires. There is no gray area or leeway here.
- The final step in registration is paying your player’s athletics/activity fee.
If you plan to participate in Team Week, you will have from July 24th to August 2nd to get registered. That is a tight window, so please be prepared when the window opens.
Team Week
Registration is not required for summer training, but it is required for participation with the team starting with Team Week: August 5th through August 9th, and continuing on into tryouts and the season. Please familiarize yourself with the team week activities. For players who don’t drive themselves, parent carpools for Team Week are very helpful. Parents, if you would like to participate in the Team Week carpool, and get to know other parents for carpooling to games later in the season, please meet in the GMHS parking lot above the turf field on Monday, August 5th at 7:45am. Tuesday, August 6th is our trip to Manitou Springs for the Incline, so organizing a carpool on Monday of Team Week is critical.

Tryouts
Tryouts are the week after Team Week and run from August 12th through August 15th. We will train on Friday, August 16th, after tryouts, and we have all day scrimmages on Saturday, August 17th. Players should plan to attend all six days of tryouts week.
Tryouts will be from 4pm to 5:30pm on Monday and Wednesday, and from 6:30pm to 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Friday training will be from 4pm to 5:30pm. All tryouts and training will take place on the turf, and this weekly schedule will carry over into training for the season. We will also train on Saturday when we have a Monday game, but otherwise, unless we schedule a special event, we will be off on Saturdays. We are always off on Sundays.
Players must arrive early for all tryouts, training sessions, team events or games. Please aim to be 15 minutes early so you can be ready when we start. Players who are late, or not ready to play when we start, will not be allowed to participate that day. One minute late means no participation. This applies even for out best players, even for critically important rivalry games. Please take the stress out of the situation, and always aim to be at least 15 minutes early.
Players must wear shin guards, and bring plenty of water for tryouts, training and games. Players without shin guards won’t participate. We recommend getting an oversized water thermos (maybe a half gallon or so).
All players must be registered for soccer in order to take part in tryouts. Here is the link to registration:
Players/Parents Meeting
For players who earn a spot on our roster during tryouts, there will be a players and parents meeting on Friday, August 16th at 5:30pm in the GMHS library. Please mark your calendars.
If you have any questions about any of these important action items, please don’t hesitate to contact Coach Matt.
