Bring On October

Something stands out as we face challenging results in the win/loss column: Our boys are staying together. Starting with the fifth opponent of the season – the varsity win at Lincoln – our bench has been on our feet cheering loudly and proudly. In the last 10 minutes of the varsity D’Evelyn match, when the result was no longer in question, and many of the starters were out of the game, our senior leaders were on their feet on the bench rooting on their teammates. Think about that for a minute. As the realization of losing in their last chance at a rival soaked in, our seniors stood and screamed encouragement for their brothers. The Rams are bonded in important ways. Let’s carry this connection into the last month of the season, and let’s defend the mountain together.

Important October Events

Rams Supporting Rams – Let’s use our screaming encouragement to help our fellow Rams athletes bring their fall seasons home. On Thursday, October 3rd, we will attend the home volleyball game together, and on Friday, October 11th, we will watch the home softball game as a team. Please plan for roughly an extra hour of time together those days (the timing is somewhat dependent on whether or not the turf lights are working).

Senior Night – We host Pomona in a varsity match at LMF on Tuesday, October 15th at 5pm. This is our senior night! Please come out and help us celebrate four years of tremendous contributions from our eight seniors!

Chili Cook-Off – Do you have a special recipe passed down through generations? Do you have an opinion about red or green? Do noodles belong, or is that blasphemy? Families are encouraged to enter a crockpot into the first annual Green Mountain Soccer Chili Cook-Off on Thursday, October 17th at 7pm.

You can enter a crockpot full of chili, or you can help with drinks, sour cream, shredded cheese, bowls, spoons, etc. Please look for an email from our boosters to coordinate. We are aware that October 17th is the start of fall break, but we play Golden on Friday and Saturday October 18th and 19th, so we expect players to be with us during these couple of days off of school.
