Matt Salis – Head Coach
Matt has been coaching high school soccer in Colorado since 2016, and he started coaching soccer in 1994 while a student at Indiana University. He has coached boys and girls in all age groups in competitive, recreational and high school soccer. He is a US Soccer Federation licensed coach with training in goal keeper coaching from CORE Soccer Academy. As a player, Matt’s West Morris Central High School team won the Iron Hills Conference Championship his senior year in 1990. He believes soccer is a life-long sport and continues to play today!
Matt brings his championship mentality to Green Mountain, and believes in a defense-first strategic approach emphasizing shutouts hard-earned by team defending. Academics come first for Matt. After that, playing time is awarded based on player attitude, commitment and participation, and skill. Positivity, energy, and showing up, day after day, is far more important to Coach Matt than natural talent. This is about more than high school soccer. We are helping our next generation of young people develop into creative, disciplined, empathetic, courageous, loving and determined adults.
Please contact Coach Matt with any comments, questions, ideas or feedback. He is eager to get to know parents and families, and is available by phone Monday through Saturday from 8am to 8pm. Please feel free to text or email anytime!
