Green Mountain Soccer is 1-0 after successfully defending the mountain, refusing to concede to George Washington, on Friday night. Colin dropped in a great goal from distance from the left channel on an assist from Kaden. Shaun, along with a stifling performance from centerbacks Miles and Giancarlo, delivered the first clean sheet of the fall campaign. Richard made some notable runs on the wing, and Brett earned the honor from Coach Rigo to carry the victory flag in cooldown. It was a true team win! And the best news…there is still lots of room for improvement as we keep working to get wide and get better.
This coming week, we take a charter bus to Elizabeth on our only full-program-travelling-together away games of the year. All players are expected to ride to the games on the bus, and to ride back to school on the bus as well. There is a great opportunity for team building on the bus, and the parents have a plan to provide dinner on our road trip. Let’s make the most of our only bus of the year! Here are the details:
Thursday, August 24th
Released from Class 1:45pm
Bus Departs for Elizabeth H.S. 2:00pm
JV Game Starts 4pm
Varsity Game Starts 6pm
Bus Departs Elizabeth H.S. about 8pm
Players are Released from the GMHS Parking Lot
Thursday at Elizabeth are our only matches of the week. We are still working to reschedule the Jefferson varsity game. Here is a link to the updated schedules.
At the end of the week, we are participating in an GMHS Athletics school clean-up day. This event is not mandatory, but it is strongly encouraged. We really want community service to be a cornerstone of our program, and service to our own school is a great way to start.
Labor Day Training
We have games on Tuesday, September 5th, so it is important that we get some touches on the ball on Labor Day Monday. We will train from 8am to 9:30am on Monday, September 4th. Following training, we will have a bagel and fruit breakfast in the clubhouse to celebrate the holiday together.
The Team Store is Open!
Gear up! Please place your order here between now and Labor Day.
