Midseason Culture Week

As we enter the last week in September, it is important to remember that most of our players have been working hard through the summer heat since the last week in June. Three long months. This is when the season becomes a grind. This is when we have to do something different, and do it together.

On Thursday, we played Soccer Tennis, and crowned a championship team of sophomores: Charles, Xavier, Pierson and Hunter. Congratulations! The future is bright for Rams Soccer.

On Friday, our seniors led the first segment of training running two activities and reminding us that we need to be composed and confident finding feet and passing our way out of trouble. Not only was the drill design good, but it was great to get such fantastic leadership from Brady, Cian, Luke and Dean (Brandon had another commitment to end this week).

Saturday, after we rallied to avenge the varsity loss from Wednesday with a hard-earned draw in the JV match against Littleton, we played program-wide Soccer Baseball. The game featured some huge at bats, aggressive base running, some funny slips, some questionable umpiring, and an epic comeback to send us into the final inning with a very close game and a walk-off win in the bottom of the last. Thank you to all who participated! It was great to see parents and siblings and friends and alumni on our makeshift diamond.

I am not sure we all understand how important this stuff is. Your coaches ask for you to have faith in the direction we are going. We promise…eventually…we will all see why a week like this matters.

Schedule

Here is a link to the updated game schedule. We have games on three consecutive Mondays starting with October 2nd. Monday games mean Saturday training as two days off the ball is a recipe for disaster on gameday. For the next three Saturdays, we will train from 4pm to 5:30pm on the turf (football and marching band have the turf reserved earlier).

This week of September 25th, we will train Monday thru Wednesday at the regular times. Monday, players don’t need shin guards or balls. We will be conditioning on the turf, and players can wear cleats or running shoes. Please bring lots of water, and something to write on/with Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday will be normal training sessions to get ready for our games against Wheat Ridge.

The varsity match is Thursday, and the JV match is Friday. They are both away games, and players only need to attend the games for which they are on the gameday roster. This means a day off for almost all of our players. Hopefully the day off will make us well rested for training Saturday at 4pm on the turf.

Bring Your DU $5 Monday

We are excited to take our Rams to the DU Men’s Soccer match on Saturday, October 21st at 7pm. Players, please bring your $5 for your ticket (boosters is subsidizing the balance) on Monday so we can order the tickets.

Let’s keep building, Rams. Let’s learn to defend the mountain together!
